East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) will sponsor its fifth annual Hurricane Preparedness and Awareness Day from 9 a.m. to 11: a.m. Thursday, July 8th, 2010. The event will be held at Seacoast Church at 750 Long Point Road in Mt. Pleasant. It is open to the public. Church and Community leaders are strongly encouraged to attend this very timely and important event.
The forum panel will include representatives from the American Red Cross, Trident United Way, Charleston County, SC DHEC (South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U. S. Naval Weapons Station Charleston, Fire and Police Officials from the Town of Mt. Pleasant, Seacoast Church, ProPac, Inc and East Cooper Community Outreach.
The forum will include a panel discussion moderated by Bill Walsh, Chief Meteorologist, WCSC-TV. Topics will include preparation of disaster plans for individuals, churches and businesses, voluntary and mandatory evacuation procedures, community recovery efforts, caring for the vulnerable, special needs and pet shelters and training in disaster preparation, response and recovery. Additionally, there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions of the panel members.
