ECCO Announces New COACH Program

East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) will be launching a new program in September to help their clients climb out of poverty.  “COACH” (Coordination, Organization, Assessment, Case Management, Health) is a strategic planning program for individuals who are in situational or generational poverty. These services will broaden ECCO’s range of services by offering clients the opportunity to work one-on-one with a trained professional caseworker.

Jan England, Director of Client Services at ECCO says “The caseworker will identify and address health, housing, financial, employment, education, and other issues that impact their lives in a negative way.  Emphasis will be placed on building on their own resources and strengths. The caseworker and the client will develop an individualized action plan to for positive changes. The program is designed to help our clients discover the issues that cause disruption in having a normal quality of life.  They will learn of other community resources which could help their situation.  The goal is to teach the client how to handle difficult financial, housing or medical situations successfully.”

Jack Little, ECCO’s Executive Director is excited about this program. “We are beginning to see some new and exciting things happen to help people lift themselves out of poverty. It takes small steps to walk a mile and for these people we are interested in helping them take those first steps.”

“We are now accepting applications for this new position,” Little says.  We want to hire someone who has a degree in Social Work. A skilled and experience person is vital in making this program successful.” Interested persons may apply by sending their resumes to: jlittle@eccocharleston.org.
